MEET EXECUTIVE CHEF CHRIS RUNNING

Executive Chef Chris Running has had a nine year career with Marcus Hotels and Resorts working with the best chefs in the company. In 2013, after leaving Engineering School, he began his fine dining career at Mason Street Grill under Mark Weber; starting from the bottom working Garde Manger he found a passion for food and the excitement of the restaurant line. This led him to work his way up the ranks at Mason Street Grill working every position and even spending a year working in Pastry. In 2017 he was recruited for the opening team of The Omaha Marriott at The Capitol District, where he started as the Sous Chef for Society1854 under Chef Jon Seymour. Working with Local Farmers and Vendors and utilizing modern takes on traditional processes Society1854 was quickly named Best New Restaurant by NP Dodge. He then shifted his focus to banquets and helped cement the Omaha Marriott as the premier wedding and Gala destination in Nebraska. The Omaha Marriott was then named Hotel of the Year by Marriott North America. Seeking return to Wisconsin, he transferred to The Grand Geneva Resort as Banquet Chef amid a record breaking summer of over 130 weddings. After a year of working in the high volume resort, an opportunity to work at the Madison Hilton Monona Terrace as Executive Chef presented itself, and he leapt for it. He hopes to build a strong team excited to bring fresh, fun food to the already thriving food scene.

In his free time he can be found hiking in local state parks, restoring vintage knives, as well as playing and building Guitars.
